Depression and Anxiety

Depression and Anxiety

Some people feel ‘butterflies in the stomach’ others get ‘jelly legs’ or tension headaches, but all are physical symptoms of anxiety and stress.

Anxiety is a normal, if unpleasant, part of life, and it can affect us all in different ways at different times. It tends to persist whereas stress is something that will come and go as the external factor causing it (work, relationship, money etc) comes and goes.

Whichever you are struggling with, the important thing is to find a release before it becomes overwhelming. Imagine your anxiety and stress are like blowing a balloon full of air. The more anxiety and stress, the more the balloon fills with air untill the last puff of air, no matter how small, makes it pop. What you need is a way of releasing some of that air between puffs. Those releases could be family, friends, yoga, reading etc or they could be using techniques to deal with the cause of the anxiety and stress.
